2023 Fall Symposium

Keynote Speaker: Marc Freeman, Ph.D. is the Director and Senior Scientist at one of the nation’s leading neuroscience research institutes – the Vollum Institute at OHSU. In 2022, he was recognized as one of six award winners with the “Landis Award for Outstanding Mentorship” from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) an honor bestowed upon him by the trainees he mentored via nomination.
“How is the nervous system remodeled in complex metazoans?”
Invited Speaker: Tamara Caspary, Ph.D is a Professor of Human Genetics and the Scientific Director of the Mouse Transgenic and Gene Targeting Core at Emory University School of Medicine. She is also the Editor of the Developmental Dynamics, GENETICS, J. of Cell Biology, and the Southeast Representative for the Society for Developmental Biology (SDB).
“Untangling ciliary and cellular signaling”
Invited Speaker: B. Duygu Özpolat, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Biology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She “is a developmental biologist with a passion for live-imaging embryos and regeneration. (“Duygu” is pronounced “Do-ee-goo”).”
